ICC World Cup Qualifier B: Netherlands beat Uganda by 97 runs

Netherlands defeated Uganda in the 9th match of ICC World Cup Qualifier B by 97 runs at the Queens Sports Club, Bulawayo.

The Dutch team showed full dominance in the game, first by posting 187 in their 20-over quota, and then bowled out Uganda for just 90 runs to record a win by big margin.

Earlier, after winning the toss Uganda elected to bowl first. However their decision turned out to be nightmare for them as their bowlers leaked 187 in 20 overs.

Although, they made a quite steady start with dismissing two of top Netherland’s batters when they were at 46, but then Max O’Dowd and Tim Copper took the charge and did 121-run partnership in 73 balls to help their side put a massive score on board.

O’Dowd scored 73 runs in 57. While Cooper smashed 81 runs in just 42 balls with the help of 11 fours and 2 sixes.

Later on, the bowlers of Netherlands did an absolute amazing job first by removing top three batters of Uganda for 7 runs. Then didn’t gave them any chance to bounce back and bundled them out for just 90 to secure a huge victory by 97 runs.

Fred Klaassen was the pick of the bowler for Netherlands with an amazing spell of 4-19-5. Bas de Leede bagged 2 wickets. While Aryan Dutt and Shariz Ahmad took a wicket each.

Tim Cooper of Netherlands received the man of the match award for his blistering knock of 81 off 42 balls.

With this win, Netherlands maintained their strong hold on the points table with 3 wins in 3 games to remain at the top with 6 points. While Papua New Guinea, Hong Kong and Uganda all after winning 1 game in 3 games, are sitting on 2nd, 3rd and 4th spot, respectively.

Talking about Group a standings, then it is Zimbabwe, who is topping the table with 3 wins and 6 points, followed by United States of America, Jersey and Singapore.
