England’s White-Ball Skipper Jos Buttler ‘Progressing Well’ Ahead of T20 World Cup

England’s regular white-ball skipper Jos Buttler provided a major update on his recovery as he said that he progressing well that is a good sign for the English side ahead of T20 World Cup 2022.

Buttler sustained an injury during The Hundred tournament last month, and since then he didn’t feature in any of the competitive matches.

The wicket-keeper batter is currently with the English side in Pakistan and watching the seven-match T20I series from the pavilion.

With Team England yet to play 5 more games before the start of ICC T20 World Cup 2022 in Australia next month. Two games against Pakistan and 3 matches against Australia ahead of the marquee event. And the regular skipper Buttler is adopting a “cautious approach” as he told Sky Sports.

What Jos Buttler said about his recovery?

“I am progressing well,” Buttler told the media. “It would be nice to play but with the World Cup round the corner, we are taking a cautious approach.

“I am running a few drinks, getting the loads up, feeling good. I feel like if it was a World Cup game tomorrow I could play, but I am being a bit cautious and taking it a bit slowly. If I had to, I could play.”

Speaking between innings during England’s defeat to Pakistan in the fifth T20I of the seven-match series, Buttler said: “I am progressing well.

Earlier, the England’s Coach Matthew Mott said that they don’t want to take a risk with Jos Buttler when he provided update on the English skipper.

“When we picked this team we had an eye to the World Cup but to the future as well,” explained Mott.

“He’s not a player we want to take a risk on this close to a World Cup and it was a reasonably significant injury that he had. He’s chomping at the bit for a game but we’ll just try and see how we go. Maybe in the last game or two he might be a chance.”

Buttler – England’s White-Ball Skipper

Buttler was appointed as the full-time captain for team England after the 2019 World Cup winning skipper Eoin Morgan announced his sudden retirement from all formats of cricket.

In his absence, Moeen Ali is handling the skipper’s responsibility.

Pakistan is currently leading the seven-match series by 3-2. They again edged past the English side in the final-over thriller on Wednesday and defeated the visitors by 6 runs.

Moeen was the only player who reached a half-century in fifth T20I for England.
