ENG-W VS WI-W 1st T20I: England Women are touring the West Indies for their preparations for the upcoming T20 World Cup. After sealing ODI series, England got off to a great start in T20Is as well. The visitors beat the hosts by 8 wickets with 44 balls remaining in 1st T20I. Windies scored 105/7 in first and it looked too easy of a total for English batters.
Bell, who was rested in 3rd ODI, made a comeback for just her third T20I overall and finished with 3 for 26 from her four overs. This greatly assisted in holding the West Indies to just 105 for 7.
In each of their three 50-over matches, West Indies was routed by more than 100 runs, with the highest score they managed being 165. On Sunday in Antigua, they were unable to recover after falling to 19 for 3 inside the first five overs. Wyatt was positively brutal in leading England to an eight-wicket victory in 12.4 overs.
ENG-W VS WI-W: West Indies Slow Show
England’s start was better than they could have ever imagined. After Katherine Brunt opened the bowling in her first international encounter since the Commonwealth Games bronze-medal playoff in early August, Bell contributed to the first two dismissals when she bowled Aaliyah Alleyne for her first T20I wicket with her fifth ball, the 11th of the game. When Kycia Knight chipped Nat Sciver directly to midfield in the following over, Bell continued to hold on.
Although a few opportunities went unseized, England continued to put the West Indies under a lot of pressure even after Hayley Matthews attempted to ramp up Brunt and lost her off stump. Djenaba Joseph, an Under-19s player making his debut, was stumped by Amy Jones after eight overs, bringing the score to 38 for 4.
The leading scorer for the West Indies in ODIs, Rashada Williams, guided Bell to backward point and then started running, recklessly challenging Wyatt’s arm as she dropped the stumps at the non-end. The hosts were in disarray as Shemaine Campbell scooped the following ball straight down Lauren Winfield-neck Hill’s at mid-on. At the end, WI could only score 105 for 7 in their 20 over quota.
ENG-W VS WI-W: England On Top
Despite some run-out difficulties in the beginning, Wyatt had England in total control. She swung Fraser through midwicket for back-to-back fours to go into the 30s from 51 for 1 after the powerplay. This was including her six off Matthews in the third over. By hitting Shabika Gajnabi over extra cover to the rope off Karishma Ramharack, Wyatt reached her fifty in 29 balls. Eventually it cut the chase to three runs.
Wyatt scored the winning runs. Finishing unbeaten on 59 off 34 pitches with a strike rate of 173.52, which was appropriate. It came after her fifty in the first game of the one-day series. It concluded a fruitful trip for tourists to Antigua. From Wednesday, the next four T20Is of the trip will be played in Barbados.
