ENG-W Squad Against SA-W:
England Women announced their 14-member squad for the upcoming 3-match ODI series against South Africa, starting on July 11.
Young pacers Lauren Bell and Issy Wong received their first ODI team calls for the series after excelling in the lone Test against South Africa. Wong bagged 3 wickets in the match played at Taunton, while Bell took 2 wickets in the rain-shortened game that later ended in a draw.
A recall to the ODI team has also been issued to Alice Davidson-Richards, who made an outstanding century in Taunton. She last participated in the format in the 2018 game against India.
Heather Knight will handle the captain’s responsibility. While other key players included in the squad are Kate Cross, Danni Wyatt, Nat Sciver, Tammy Beaumont, Sophie Ecclestone and Katherine Brunt.

“We have to keep looking forward and trying to improve as a team. And we were so delighted with the energy and skill that the four debutants brought in the Test match.” head coach Lisa Keightley said on the selections.
“I’m looking forward to hopefully seeing something similar in the ODI and throughout the rest of the summer. With new players putting their hands up to win games for England. And selection becoming tougher and tougher as more players make a case to be included.” she added.
The three-match series will start on July 11 start in Northampton. While the last match will be played in Leicester on 18.

Apart from the ODI series, both team will lock horns in a 3-match T2OIs series, starting July 21.
Earlier, in the only match played between England and South Africa ended in a draw. Both teams put on a good show as a result the game ended on a 50-50 note. Nat Sciver, who scored an unbeaten 169 in the England’s first innings was awarded as player of the match.
