Day-4 Match Updates: England vs South Africa

Eng vs SA 3rd test Day-4 Match Updates: After scrubbing on Day 4 of the ongoing third and final Test at the Kennington Oval, England is in command of the action as they chase a target of 130.

Day 4 of play began with England at 154 for 7, but they were only able to add four runs during the morning session, and they were eventually bowled out for 158. Kagiso Rabada took four wickets, while Marco Jansen claimed a five-wicket haul.

The second innings of South Africa ended with them being bowled out for 169. After Ben Stokes took out Sareel Erwee, Stuart Broad and James Anderson used their skills to take three quick wickets between them.

England’s opening batsmen Zak Crawley and Alex Lees were both unbeaten at 57 and 32, respectively, when England reached 97 without losing a wicket at the end of day-4.

With how Day 4 began and how it ultimately ended, South Africa will be extremely disappointed. In the first session, they appeared attractive, but that was it. They struggled in the following two sessions, and they allowed the game to slip both with the bat and the ball. The inexperienced middle order of the team was never up to the task and was destroyed by the English pacers’ straightforward but potent bowling.

Next came the bowling, where Kagiso Rabada continued his poor performance by being unstable. Early on, Rabada did have a chance, but his countryman with the new ball, Marco Jansen, spilled it, and from that point on, it was all England. The English openers played some outstanding batting in front of the guests, and they received no response.

The match was nearing the end of its run, as was the lengthy Test series. England requires 33 runs to win the series finale at Kennington Oval in London. With this win, England will win the series by 2-1.
