England Vs New Zealand: Thousands of tickets unsold ahead of first test at Lord’s

There are as many as thousands of tickets still unsold for the Lord’s Test between England and New Zealand despite the English team being all set to welcome a new era with Ben Stokes and Brendon McCullum. Here in this article, we talk about ENG vs NZ: Tickets sales.

Normally, days one, two, and three sell out in advance but there are over 1000 tickets still on sale for the first day of the high-voltage match between the giants.

While 2000 for Friday, 4000 for Saturday and over 9000 tickets for Sunday’s play are still available, which is high than normal.

According to a report by The Daily Telegraph, the high price of tickets is the major reason behind a number of ticket sales. The tickets being priced at 160 pounds “amid the cost of living crisis”, the ticket sales have been slow, as mentioned in the report.

Michael Vaughan has expressed his concern on the same and slammed Lord’s for “astronomical prices”, telling The Telegraph: “It drives me bonkers when I read about ticket prices and Lord’s has not sold out the first test of the summer.

“If Lord’s is going to continue to charge these astronomical prices then they should be under threat from other grounds who will not charge as much.

“You can’t keep saying, ‘we are Lord’s, we need two test matches a year and then charge over 150 pounds in the holidays, during the Jubilee and during a cost-of-living crisis.”

However, the owner of Lord’s has admitted that the sales have been slower than normal majorly due to Queen’s Silver Platinum Jubilee.

“With The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee double bank holiday weekend also taking place, we have seen a reduction in our usual expected attendance numbers,” the MCC said.

England will take on the World Test Champions New Zealand on June 2. The match in India will be viewed on Sony Six, and Sony Ten3 channels and you can track live updates on the Stumps and Bails website.
