Cheteshwar Pujara continued his dominant on the English soil by smashing another hundred, however this time in 50-over format.

Pujara, the captain of team Sussex in the Royal London one-day Cup 2022, played an unthinkable knock of 107 off just 79 balls to stun the crowd.

The player known for test batting, played an innings in 50-over format with a strike rate of 135.44, is not digestible for many but Pujara being Pujara, he is just unstoppable this year on the English soil.

In the 10 innings so far this season for Sussex in the longest format, Pujara has recorded a total of 997 runs at an average of 124.62. This includes five centuries and three double centuries against Derbyshire, Durham, and Middlesex.

This time, Pujara did wonders in the ODI match. However his team failed to clinch the victory in a 300-plus scoring game from both sides by 4 runs, but Pujara impressed everyone with his blistering knock.

While chasing a 311-run target, Pujara’s Sussex were looking good in the chase when they were at 112 for 1 in 21.3 overs, but on the fourth ball of 22nd over, they lost Tom Clark and then comes Pujara on crease.

Pujara not just stable the innings with his obvious batting skills but also scored the runs in quick fashion. Both Pujara and Alistair Orr did a 60-run partnership for the 3rd wicket before Orr walked back to pavilion after scoring 80 runs.

But captain Pujara took the team forward by adding quick runs, though he received lack of support from other batters as they were failed to remain at crease for long.

Sussex needed 102 runs in the final 10 over to go through. This is the time when audience witnessed a destructive face of Pujara as he shifted gears and went from 50 to 100 off just 22 balls.

Pujara scored 22 runs — 4, 2, 4, 2, 6, and 4 in the 6 balls — against Liam Norwell to keep Sussex in the match.

His team needed 20 off the final 2 overs, but Warwickshire’s Oliver Hannon-Dalby then did the job for his team and removed the dangerous Pujara to hand his a 4-run victory over Pujara’s Sussex.
