Top Unsold players in IPL mini-auction 2023
Unsold players in IPL mini-auction 2023: All of the teams had great success with the mini-auction for the 16th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL). Finding the right lineups for their teams required a significant financial investment from each franchise.
Only 87 players could be sold to 10 teams at the Kochi tournament, which is unfortunate for a lot of unsold players. As a result, the vast majority of players remained unsold. The top athletes on the following list were not signed, and as a result, they won’t be taking part in the illustrious Indian Premier League’s 16th season (IPL).
Here is the list of the top five unsold players of the IPL mini-auction 2023:
1. Travis Head
Travis Head middle-order hitter from Australia entered the IPL auctions with a base price of INR 2 crore, although he will not be joining any team as no club expressed interest in hiring him. Travis has 345 runs scored in 17 T20 Internationals but no half-centuries. The middle-order hitter represented the Royal Challengers Bangalore in his final IPL campaign in 2017.
2. Rassie van der Dussen
In the IPL 2022, Rassie van der Dussen played for the Rajasthan Royals (RR). He was permitted to leave by the team before the IPL 2023 auction. He participated in three matches during the competition, scoring 22 runs.
The IPL 2023 mini-auction saw Rassie van der Dussen, a South African star who appeared to be drawing significant offers tonight, went unsold shockingly. In the IPL 2023 auction, Rassie van der Dussen’s opening bid was INR 2 crores.
3. Dawid Malan
Notably, the left-handed hitter scored 26 runs in one IPL game for Punjab Kings in 2021. Despite only one T20I century to his credit, the 35-year-old was one of the auction list’s most prolific names with a base price of INR 1.5 Crore. He did not receive any other opportunities from the team this season.
Malan has played 55 games in T20Is, scoring 1748 runs at an average of 38.84 per game. In the shortest format, he has blasted 1 century and 14 half-centuries. The top slot in the ICC rankings for T20I batsmen was long held by David Malan previously, an explosive batsman in nature won’t be part of IPL season 16 sadly.
4. Mohammad Nabi
In the IPL 2023 mini-auction, Mohammad Nabi went unsold. The Afghan player had a basic price of INR 1 crore fixed for himself, but no offers were made for him. Nabi played for the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2022, which may have contributed to the low number of bids he received.
The Afghanistan veteran had nothing to show IPL team management because he was unable to participate in any games for KKR last season. Hope he performs well in the other leagues and makes a comeback in the next season.
5. Mujeeb Ur Rahman
His fellow mate Mohammad Nabi who also went unsold this time and it was Mujeeb Ur Rahman who shockingly went unsold during the IPL mini-auction 2023.
Both experienced spinners from Afghanistan have not been included in any of the teams for the upcoming TATA IPL 2023. Rahman also set a starting bid of INR 1 crore for the IPL 2023 mini-auction, which it even more difficult for the team to pick him up. During the IPL 2022, Mujeeb ur Rahman stayed home and did not play.
During the 2021 season, he was a player for Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). In the specific season, the youthful player only participated in one game but claimed two wickets. Later on, the franchise let him go.
Better Luck Next time!
Hopefully, these top players get to showcase their abilities in other leagues and for their national teams in order to get picked by any team in the next season of the Indian Premier League.
