BAN v IND 2022: The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB), on Thursday, December 8, 2022, announced a 17-member Bangladesh squad for the first Test of the two-match series against India. Which will be played in Chattogram from December 14 onwards.
Left-hand batter Zakir Hasan has been given his maiden call-up. Zakir Hassan made it to the 17-member squad side after scoring 173 for Bangladesh A. Playing for the A side four-day game against India A.
The key batter Zakir also marks the highest run of 442 at 56.25 this season’s National Cricket League
“Zakir has been on our radar for the last five years. He was in the High Performance unit for four of those years, and this season he was the highest scorer in first-class cricket. He played a good knock against India A last week. Selector Abdur Razzak, with the Bangladesh A side, witnessed the game and it seems Zakir is prepared for the highest level.”

Tamim continues to be on the sidelines after picking up a groin injury that rules him out of the ongoing ODI series. Tamim’s recovery could take until December 22. Which puts him in doubt for the second Test starting on December 22 in Mirpur.

BAN v IND 2022: BCB chief selector Minhajul Abedin talkihg to the press:
“Our physio said he won’t be able to play in the first Test. But we are awaiting the medical report for the second Test. So, we’ve announced the squad for the opening Test.”
The Bangladesh got a boost by the return of Mushfiqur Rahim, who missed their last Test as the cricketer busy in the holy work to perform Hajj. Additionally, Taskin Ahmed, who was injured.
The Tigers have picked five fast bowlers in their squad. Along with the three spinners in Shakib, Mehidy Hasan Miraz, and Taijul Islam.

Both the Tests are part of the ICC Test Championship. Also, a 2-0 series win for India will go a long way to help them qualify for the final of the WTC 2023. On the other hand, Bangladesh has never won a Test match against India. Overall, having lost nine and drawn two out of 11 games in total.
The first Test begins on December 14 in Chattogram. Followed by the second and final Test that will be on December 22 in Dhaka.
