Asia Cup 2023 Schedule

The Asia Cup’s official schedule was finally unveiled on Wednesday, following months of dispute between the cricket bodies of India and Pakistan.

India will play Pakistan in Kandy on September 2 in what is expected to be the Asia Cup’s marquee match.

The tournament will get off on August 30 in Multan, Pakistan, with Pakistan taking on Nepal. Three further matches will take place in Lahore, including a Pakistan Super 4 match on September 6. All other matches will be held in Sri Lanka, with three taking place in Kandy and six in Colombo, including the final on September 17.

The Asia Cup group round will conclude on September 5, while the Super Four stage will begin on September 6.

If both India and Pakistan qualify for the Super 4, their second Asia Cup 2023 clash will take place on September 10 in Colombo.

Pakistan retained the hosting rights but will stage only four of the 13 matches in this biennial competition. Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, Bangladesh and Nepal are the other teams in the field for this ODI competition.

The decision to go with of a hybrid plan by the ACC for this year’s Asia Cup is a significant breakthrough. After months of speculation, this decision was made official on June 15. The ACC accepted Pakistan’s hybrid strategy when India refused to travel Pakistan due to poor relations between the two countries. Under this format, Pakistan will host four games, while Sri Lanka would host the remaining nine.

The Pakistani team will travel immediately to Sri Lanka after their first match against Nepal. The first group stage encounter between Sri Lanka and Bangladesh will take place in Sri Lanka, while the second will take place in Pakistan. whereas Afghanistan will play its group matches in Pakistan.
