Andrew Flintoff accident: On Tuesday, December 13, former England all-rounder Andrew Flintoff, who has been hosting the BBC programme “Top Gear” since 2019, was driving in the United Kingdom when he was seriously injured. At the Dunsfold Aerodrome in Surrey, where the broadcaster-turned-cricketer was filming the show, disaster struck.

According to a report, Flintoff wasn’t driving at a high pace while on the track, and his injuries are not life-threatening. Soon after, Freddie was flown by air ambulance to the hospital. For the time being, filming has been put on hold until Freddie recovers.

Second time in 4 your years

This is the second incident Flintoff has recently been a part of while filming the show. He survived a crash at 125 mph in 2019 and afterwards acknowledged that he had gone a little too far.

At that time he said that “I go to great lengths to make sure I do well in Top Gear drag races but, on this occasion, I went a few lengths too far. It will look more ridiculous than dangerous when you see it on TV.”

What Happened?

The legendary England all-rounder supposedly harmed himself while being interviewed by the show’s cameras for the review section about a certain car. Flintoff was the one in control of the vehicle at the moment of the crash.

The 45-year-old received rapid medical attention from the show crew’s medical staff before being transported via helicopter to a neighboring hospital. The Sun reports that Flintoff’s wounds are not life-threatening.

BCC’s Comments

BCC in a statement quoted saying “Freddie was injured in an accident at the Top Gear test track this morning with crew medics attending the scene immediately. He has been taken to hospital for further treatment and we will confirm more details in due course.”

Who is Andrew Flintoff?

Flintoff, a renowned all-rounder who played for England in all formats of the game. Where he retired in 2009 after taking part in 79 Tests, 141 one-day internationals, and seven Twenty20 Internationals. He scored 7,315 runs in all formats during this time. Also taking 400 wickets.

Flintoff, who was essential to England’s Ashes victory in 2005 and 2009. He continued to play cricket even after formally retiring from it in 2010. He received the 2005 Ashes Man of the Series award for his valiant efforts in leading England to their first Ashes victory in 18 years.

All-rounder Flintoff left cricket in 2010 and, after briefly pursuing a career in boxing. He joined Top Gear as a host in 2019.
