6IXTY 2022: St Kitts men’s team and Barbados Royals women’s team crowned Champions

St Kitts & Nevis side win the inaugural campaign of the men’s 6ixty 2022 tournament, and Barbados Royals win the women’s 6ixty 2022 tournament.

This is a new format of cricket where it feels like it is completely a different game with different rules when compared with traditional cricket. With the introduction of new leagues in different parts of the world, the 6ixty tournament was inspired by the success of the Hundred tournament.

Men’s 6IXTY 2022
In the Inaugural season of the campaign for the Men’s 6ixty side, St Kitts & Nevis emerged as the champions and Barbados Royals women’s team was crowned as the champions for the women’s teams.

Chris Gayle lifts his own trophy after St Kitts side was crowned the champions of the men’s 6ixty tournament.

Chris Gayle was not only part of the winning side but he played a key role in helping the St Kitts side to become the champions in the very first season.

St Kitts side was facing Trinbago Knight Riders (TKR) in the final match of the Men’s 6ixty campaign, St Kitts after winning the toss decided to bowl first and were able to restrict the Trinbago Knight Riders for 84 runs for 6 wickets, Now in reply, the St Kitts side needs 85 runs to win the tournament and they were successful in chasing down the target with 3 wickets in hand.

Evin Lewis skipper for St Kitts side wins the inaugural campaign by beating TKR by 3 wickets.

Women’s 6IXTY
In the women’s division, Trinbago Knight Riders faced off Barbados Royals in the women’s final of the 6ixty tournament. The TKR team was led by Deandra Dottin and Hayley Matthews was the skipper of the Barbados side.

After winning the toss TKR decided to bowl first, TKR bowled well after successfully restricting TKR to a decent total where the Barbados side scored for 6 wickets, now the job for Barbados bowlers was difficult as the score was less to defend but the Royals were motivated and inspired to win the match, Royals bowled well after puncture the TKR side for 50/6 in nine overs.

Barbados win the match by 15 runs and become the first women’s team to win the inaugural campaign of the 6ixty tournament.
