Will Rohit Sharma bat at number 3 in second Test of BGT 2024-25?

Will Rohit Sharma Play 2nd Test of BGT 2024-25?

Team India’s regular captain Rohit Sharma has joined the team in Perth ahead of the second test of BGT. The key question that arises is where he will fit into this current lineup for the Adelaide test.  Let’s know Will Rohit Sharma Play 2nd Test of BGT 2024-25.

Rohit Sharma quickly got to work after arriving in Perth on Sunday, heading to the nets on Monday as Team India faced Australia in the first Test at Optus Stadium, Perth. The India captain had missed the opening Border-Gavaskar Trophy test due to the birth of his second child.

KL Rahul showcased his patient, determined, and defensive batting skills in the ongoing Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 first test against Australia at Perth’s Optus Stadium. With regular captain Rohit Sharma absent, Rahul was allowed to open the batting and seized it impressively.

KL Rahul to play in Rohit Sharma’s place?

After a controversial and unfulfilled 26 runs off 74 balls in the first innings, KL Rahul returned with more grittiness in the second innings. He played an amazing knock of 77 runs off 176 balls, which included five boundaries. His partnership with Yashasvi Jaiswal, which yielded a record-breaking 201 runs, helped India gain a strong base in the match.

This performance came as a timely response to his critics and helped him reinforce his place in the team for this crucial series. Despite his inconsistent performances in the past, where he had limited opportunities under Rohit Sharma’s captaincies, Rahul proved his worth with this vital contribution in a pivotal Test series.

Where does Rohit Sharma fit in?

India’s regular captain Rohit Sharma’s recent test form has some concerns as he averages just 29.40 in 2024, with 588 runs from 11 Tests. In his last outing against New Zealand, he scored only 91 runs in six innings, with a best of 52.

However, Rohit is set to return for the second Test of the Border-Gavaskar Trophy 2024-25 in Adelaide, starting December 6. He was seen preparing for the challenge by batting in the nets with the pink ball on Monday, during lunch session on day 4 of the first test.

Team India’s two-day practice match tour in Canberra, which begins November 30. The match, a Day/Night fixture, will help India gear up for the unique conditions at Adelaide, where the pink Kookaburra ball tends to move more during the twilight hours. These conditions will help the management decide what the lineup for the second test should be.
