Why so much hate towards Hardik Pandya?: Hardik Pandya is an allrounder who is known for his explosive batting and good medium-fast bowling, he was first scouted by Mumbai Indians in 2015 and the rest is history. Hardik Pandya developed from a young rookie to a star allrounder for Mumbai and India.

In the first six years with Mumbai Hardik had achieved a lot of things and also became an integral part of the Indian national team. However, things took a turn when Hardik decided to leave Mumbai India before the 2022 IPL auction and joined the new franchise Gujarat Titans. He was also made captain of this new team.

His first year at Gujarat was nothing short of exceptional as he led the Gujarat team to their first IPL title in their very first season, then also guided them again into the finals last year but failed to lift the trophy this time around.

Turning Point in Hardik’s Career in a Bad Way

Hardik who was having a successful life at GT decided to go back to Mumbai Indians in the all-cash trade deal ahead of the IPL 2024 auction. Mumbai fans were at first very happy with the trade of Hardik Pandya but it all changed when Mumbai Indians decided to remove Rohit Sharma as captain and appoint Hardik as the new skipper.

This move led to a huge conflict among Mumbai fans, especially Rohit Sharma fans. The general public left like this move was not necessary. Moreover, there were rumors that the all-cash trade from Gujarat also had a captaincy clause attached to it, which paved the way for replacing Rohit Sharma.

This caused a lot of chaos in the social media.

Conflict Among Fans: Chaos on Social Media

Even Mumbai Indians have almost 1 million plus followers on Instagram. A lot was going on social media about why Rohit was removed, and why Hardik was appointed as skipper when Mumbai had senior players like Bumrah and Suryakumar Yadav in the team.

However, all the drama shifted to a whole new level after the first IPL game against Gujarat. Pandya who led Gujarat to the title and finals in the two seasons was on the receiving side of boos from the home crowd.

His captaincy also led to an increase in these issues where people felt like he was not doing the best captaincy and people also felt like he was disrespecting Rohit during the fielding time. Even in the last game when MI had to chase 278 in 20 overs, all the Mumbai batsmen had 200+ strike-rate except for one player and it was none other than Hardik Pandya.

If you compare the way CSK named their new captain, it caught many eyes as they felt this was the right way to change a captain. We even saw clips where CSK’s new captain Gaikwad asking tips to Dhoni. This was a heartwarming thing but the same thing was not happening with the Mumbai team. Every step that led to Hardik’s appointment as skipper is now making him the villain of Mumbai at the current period of time.
