Should Jasprit Bumrah play the 4th Test?
Jasprit Bumrah has been a part of the squad in two out of the three tests played in the India tour of England 2025. Bumrah who is just back from an injury he picked up during the BGT 2024-25 in Australia, has been permitted to play just 3 out of the 5 test matches against England. Here’s a look at should Jasprit Bumrah play the 4th test?
His recent performances
Bumrah has been and still is India’s premier bowler in both the Red-Ball and White-Ball series, in the recent two tests played at Leed’s and Lord’s he is accountable for one fifer in the first test and in his second test which is the third test of India Tour of England 2025 at the Lord’s he managed to get a fifer and two wickets in the second innings. He has a total of 12 wickets in just these two tests.
Although he has been performing well, both the tests in which he was included, India went onto lose in those particular matches. The only test wherein Bumrah wasn’t included was the test in Edgbaston, which was won by India with a 300+ run lead. So what exactly is the scenario that we are looking at for India’s stance in the tour?
Where does India stand?
India is currently down 2-1 in the 5-match test series, with just 2 matches remaining, the upcoming 4th test in Manchester is a do-or-die situation for India. Either India can use Jasprit Bumrah for the 4th test and stay in contention for the series win, or they can fight hard without Bumrah in the 4th test, and play the long game and save Bumrah for the 5th test in The Oval.
Either of the outcomes can either turn into utter dominance or into a controversy. The ultimate stays in the hands of the managing staff, Head Coach, and the leader. Until then we hope both the teams perform well, and may the best team win.
