1. MS Dhoni

MS Dhoni is not only the most successful Indian captain, but also the only captain to win all ICC trophies of his time (ODI WC, T20 WC, Champions Trophy) in the world.

Dhoni was appointed as India’s skipper when the things were not looking great for the Indian cricket, and also no one expected Dhoni to be named as captain due to inexperience of the role.

The long-haired guy from Ranchi was given the responsibility to lead the side in the inaugural T20 World Cup in 2007, and the rest is history.

India under Dhoni then won the CB series in Australia in 2008, defeated New Zealand in New Zealand in ODIs for the first-time, Asia Cup in 2010.

And finally, the biggest achievement that made him the best in business was the ICC World Cup 2011 triumph. No cricket fan can ever forget that winning six MSD struck over long on at Wankhede to guide India their second ODI World Cup after 28 long years.

The only Indian captain with 2 ICC trophies added one more to his cabinet by winning ICC Champions Trophy 2013 in England to become the most successful Indian captain of all time.

He is only behind the great Ricky Ponting, who led his Australia 4 ICC events wins, but in 2 different tournaments, while Dhoni won all three each.
