India vs Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy poster controversy

The much-awaited India vs Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy is just a few days away, and the excitement to watch the top two teams battle it out grows with each passing day. Let’s look at India vs Australia Border-Gavaskar Trophy poster controversy.

In the midst of excitement, Fox Cricket, an Australian media channel, dropped a Border-Gavaskar Trophy poster during Australia vs Pakistan third ODI match, which sparks furore on the internet.

Fans were upset after seeing the poster as it did not include India’s test captain Rohit Sharma in the poster, while the media channel used Virat Kohli’s images instead.

With Fox cricket set to air India vs Australia BGT series, starting November 22, they were all but reminding the fans during the live telecast of final ODI for the mega series coming up by displaying the poster.

The Australian skipper Pat Cummins was seen alongside former Indian captain, Virat Kohli on the poster, that was quickly became the topic of debate for snubbing India regular skipper.

Virat Kohli has an excellent record playing red-ball cricket in Australia. In 13 matches, he has scored 1352 at an average of 54.08, including 6 tons and 4 fifties.

Rohit, on the other hand, scored 408 runs in seven matches down under at a decent average of 31.38. The current Indian is expected to miss the opening test of the 5-match BGT. Speedster Jasprit Bumrah will likely to lead the Indian team in Rohit’s absence during Perth test.

Australia on Sunday announced their 13-men squad for the Perth test, with Pat Cummins as expected will lead the team.

There was a surprise inclusion of white-ball specialist Josh Inglis in the squad as backup wicketkeeper batter, while Nathan Mcsweeney received his maiden call-up and can be seen opening the innings for Australia in the series opener.

India will start the BGT 2024-25 with an aim to beat Australia in Australia for third time in a row.
