India started off the Border Gavaskar Trophy on a high note, as India trail by 100 runs at the end of Day-1

IND vs AUS, Day-1 Updates: Australia won the toss and elected to bat first against India in the first game of the series, but their hitters struggled on the fast Nagpur pitch and were dismissed for 177 runs. In the opening innings at Vidarbha Cricket Association Stadium in Nagpur, nobody scored a fifty for the Australian side.

But Indian batters continued their dominance as Rohit and Rahul started off the Indian innings in some style. Where Rohit scored his 15th test fifty. Rahul stood for some time but was dismissed for (20) by Murphy in the 22nd over. Then the Indian team sent out the night watchman Ravichandran Ashwin to see things off the day-1 of the Border Gavaskar Trophy.

Skipper led from the front, a right example set by the skipper in the important match, as Rohit Sharma finished his score with 59 runs from 69 balls with nine fours and one six. The Indian side was 77/1 at the end of Day-1.

IND vs AUS: The Downfall of Ausis Batsman on Day-One

Australia’s issues began as soon as the visitors were dealt early blows by pacers Mohammed Shami and Mohammed Siraj, who respectively dismissed Usman Khwaja and David Warner in the opening three overs. Jadeja was the Indian team’s major weapon in the second session, as he broke the 82-run partnership between Steve Smith (37) and Marnus Labuschagne (49).

The wickets of Matt Renshaw, Todd Murphy, and Peter Handscomb came next (31). Australia has dismissed in 63.5 overs thanks to Jadeja, who concluded the day’s last session with five wickets for 47 runs. 

Jadeja picked up his 11th Five-wicket haul to put a halt to Ausis innings. This was Jadeja was of announcing his comeback to international cricket after an injury.

IND vs AUS: Ashwin the other Spinner who troubled the Ausis

R Ashwin reached a landmark after he got Aussie wicketkeeper Alex Carey (36) clean bowled. Ashwin becomes the 11th bowler to take 450 (or more) wickets in Test cricketThis made Ashwin become the second Indian bowler after Anil Kumble reached 450 Test wickets. 

Ashwin is now the second fastest bowler to reach the mark in-side 88 Tests, behind Sri Lankan great Muttiah Muralidaran who achieved the feat in 80 matches.
