India Predicted Playing 11 For AUS ODI Series
India announces two squads for the 3-match ODI series:
The senior members of the team have been rested from the first two games. Captain, Rohit Sharma, and Vice-captain, Hardik Pandya, both have been rested. Virat Kohli too has been asked to rest and recharge despite the talisman not playing enough games. Kuldeep Yadav, seen as the biggest threat to opposition in the World Cup is also rested with a view to not over-expose him. KL Rahul will lead the side for the first two ODIs and Ravindra Jadeja will be his deputy.
The new additions to the squad:
There are 3 major notable names in India’s 15-member squad for the first two ODIs. Ruturaj Gaikwad finds a place in the team. He is expected to lead the side in the Asian Games too. It will be interesting to see if he finds a place in the XI though. Washington Sundar who played the Asia Cup final too finds a spot. But the biggest talking point is Ravichandran Ashwin. The star off-spinner is included in India’s ODI side after 20 months.
India’s likely XI for the first two games:
Shubman Gill is most likely to partner with Ishan Kishan at the top. Ruturaj Gaikwad will be the backup opener. Tilak Varma will continue to play at the number 3 spot. Shreyas Iyer, returning from a back spasm will slot in at number 4. KL Rahul, captaining the side will play at number 5. Suryakumar Yadav will once again get a game to prove his match-winning abilities. He will come in at number 6. Ravindra Jadeja will continue to man the number 7 spot but his batting prowess is under the radar now.
Ashwin’s inclusion in the 15 means he is certain to start the series. He is a very handy number 8. India will look to rotate between Jasprit Bumrah, Mohammad Siraj, and Mohammad Shami for the two games. Shardul Thakur or Prasidh Krishna will take up the third seamer’s role.
India’s XI for the final ODI:
It is the third ODI that will signal India’s first-choice playing XI at the start of the World Cup too. The Asia Cup showed why it is important for an off-spinner to play in the subcontinent. India’s left-field decision to include Ashwin is a part of that decision-making process. The team selected for the third ODI is India’s full-strength squad as all the regulars return to the fold.
India’s likely XI for the final ODI:
Rohit Sharma (C), Shubman Gill, Virat Kohli, Shreyas Iyer, KL Rahul (wk), Hardik Pandya, Ravindra Jadeja, Ravichandran Ashwin/Shardul Thakur, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammad Siraj
