Sri Lanka announce their 20-man squad for the Asia Cup 2022

The Sri Lankan Board on Friday night announced the 20–man squad for the upcoming Asia Cup T20 in UAE. The tournament is around the corner and the Lankan side has released their squad list for the 15th edition of the Asia Cup. Let us have a look at Sri Lanka squad for Asia Cup 2022.

The Asia Cup 2022 was initially planned to be organized in Sri Lanka but due to the political and economic crisis in Sri Lanka, the tournament was shifted to UAE.

Sri Lanka will face off against Afghanistan in their opening match in Dubai International Stadium on 27th August.

After 12 days of delay, the Sri Lanka board has now officially announced the squad which is led by Dasun Shanaka, Sri Lanka will be looking to create an impact in the tournament as the T20 World Cup is up and coming and this will be a proper test for the Lankans as they can analyse their strengths and weakness before the T20 World Cup in Australia.

The last date for the squad submission was before August 8th, but with the current events unfolding in Sri Lanka made the Sri Lanka Cricket Board (SLC) ask for some time to submit the squad list. The Political crisis and the economic crisis have made the life of Sri Lankan citizens a bit worse and that is the sole reason why the tournament was shifted to UAE to avoid any conflicts.

UAE, Kuwait, Singapore, and Hong Kong will be playing qualifying rounds and the winner will join the other qualified teams in Asia Cup.
