In a since-deleted tweet, Abeysinghe stated, “Virat Kohli has been ruled out of the Asia Cup squad due to Wrist Injury. Shubman Gill replaces him in the Team India squad.”
The story turned out to be false, so the Indian supporters may finally exhale with relief. Abeysinghe promptly removed the post and expressed regret to his followers by writing, “Sorry Virat’s News is fake. The tweet has been deleted”.

In reality, at the ICC Academy in Dubai, Kohli took part in Team India’s first training session. The former skipper had outstanding form in the nets, ruthlessly crushing the spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Yuzvendra Chahal, and Ravichandran Ashwin.
