Asia Cup second match wrapped up yesterday in Sharjah where the Indian side thrillingly beat Pakistan. In the second match, we saw many glimpses of players come back to form, one such player was Ravinder Jadeja.
India vs Pakistan is always an exciting match-up and in big tournaments, it’s filled with entertainment. In yesterday’s match, India was struggling to attack the fast bowlers of Pakistan and it seems that India might fail to win the match but both Ravindra Jadeja and Hardik Pandya together made sure that India crossed the line.
Jadeja played a crucial role on Sunday night where he bowled two overs and gave away 11 runs with an average economy of 5.5, he did not contribute by picking up the wickets but he was crucial in the batting department.
He played the role of batting all-rounder on Sunday night, he started his batting by finding the rhythm and picking up the loose balls and smashing them over for boundaries. He stayed on the pitch until the first ball of the last over where he got bowled playing a glory short, Jadeja scored a Brilliant 35 runs in 29 balls with two sixes and two fours maintaining an average strike rate of 120.59.
After the match during the post-match interviews, it was host Sanjay Manjrekar’s chance to ask a couple of questions to Jadeja.
Sanjay started by asking “First of all, you’re okay to talk to me, right, Jaddu?
He asked this question because of a few reasons, firstly about the Controversial remarks made Sanjay made during the 2019 world cup where he was seen saying ‘not a big fan of bits and pieces players like Jadeja’ and as the World Cup progressed Sanjay admitted saying “By bits and pieces, he has completely ripped me apart today. By sheer brilliance, he has proved me wrong on all fronts.” That’s why Sanjay started the interview with that kind of question.
Jadeja broke all the odds and proved everyone wrong once again, he came up the batting order and stabilized the innings by not losing wickets. This performance shows that Jadeja will be playing a crucial role in the upcoming matches.
India will be looking to win the Asia Cup and build the moment towards the T20 World Cup in Australia later this year.
