Sam Curran IPL 2023
Sam Curran IPL 2023: With just the 3 days left for the big day for the mini auction of the most loved cricket league around the world, IPL, the preparations by the franchises of whom to pick or not are on sky level.
The one of the most successful franchises in the auction now wanted to bring back his star all-rounder in side, who missed the previous season, Sam Curran.
The left-handed all-rounder, who was part of team CSK in 2020 and 2021 season, has played 23 games for the MS Dhoni-led side two combined seasons.
He was bought for 5.5 crores by CSK in 2020, and impressed all with his all-round play, as he scored 186 runs with the bat in 14 games at an average of over 23 while a strike-rate over 131.
The young Curran was also impressive with the bowl as he took 13 wickets in 14 matches.
England’s star then featured in 9 games for CSK in 2021 season and struck runs with a strike-rate of over 193, and also took 9 wickets in the process.
He skipped the 2022 season, and according to some reports, now CSK, and especially the man behind their success MS Dhoni wants Curran to be back in side.
MS Dhoni wants Sam Curran back in CSK for IPL 2023
Notably, CSK finished ninth in the last season and there was a mix up of captaincy during the season.
Dhoni stepped down from captaincy and asked Ravindra Jadeja to lead the side right before the start of the IPL 2022.
But Jadeja, a first-time captain in IPL, failed to sustain the pressure, as a result his side only won 2 games out of 8 before he opted to hand back the leadership role to MS Dhoni.
Chennai Super Kings, however, showed fate in their previous squad, as they retained most of their last season’s players.
Their opening combination looking sorted with Devon Conway and Ruturaj Gaikwad, but a weak middle-order and a need of an all-rounder is visible.
Curran played some effective knocks with the bat for CSK in 2020 and 2021 seasons, and was handy with the ball. With form on his side, he is most likely to be the player every franchise wants in their side.
On top of that, he won the player of match during the night of T20 World Cup 2022 finals, and also the player of the tournament in the same event, all these achievements make him the man of the moment for the mini-auction.
Chennai Super Kings have INR 20.45 left in their purse and they have yet to pick seven players, including two overseas players.
