PAK vs NZ 2nd ODI highlights: New Zealand defeated Pakistan with ease in the second one-day international on Wednesday, thanks to an explosive hundred from opener Devon Conway.

Before New Zealand’s collapse, which cost them nine wickets for 78 runs and saw them bowled out for 261 in 49.5 overs, the left-hander struck 101 and Captain Kane Williamson made 85.

After losing wickets frequently, Pakistan was eventually bowled for 182, ending the three-match series locked at 1-1 despite Captain Babar Azam’s valiant 79.

After deciding to bat first, New Zealand had a terrible start and lost Finn Allen early on.

With a 181-run partnership for the second wicket, Kane Williamson and Devon Conway managed to steady the Kiwi ship.

Departure of Conway shortly after he reached his century served as a catalyst for additional batters to do the same, thanks to Mohammad Nawaz’s off-spin.

Apart from Conway only Kane Williamson played a good knock of 85 off 100.

In 92 balls, Conway scored his second ODI hundred with 13 fours and a six. Following that, Nawaz claimed three wickets, cheaply removing Tom Latham and Daryl Mitchell in one over before clean bowled Kane Williamson in the next.

Nawaz finished with 4-38 as New Zealand lost five wickets for 23 runs in the span of 40 deliveries, falling from a solid position at 183-1 to 206-6.

Williamson hit 10 boundaries in his 100-ball innings before receiving lifelines on 53 and 54 by Wasim. The final out for 37 came from Mitchell Santner, one of only three New Zealand batsman to reach double figures.

In reply, Fakhar Zaman (0), Imam-ul-Haq (6), gone before the fourth over. Babar Azam and Mohammad Rizwan (28), then added 55 for the third wicket, but it was sufficient.

While neither Mohammad Nawaz, Usama Mir, nor Mohammad Wasim lasted very long, Agha Salman managed to score 25 before being ran out due to a mix-up with Azam. Before being finally stumped in the 43rd over by spinner Ish Sodhi, Azam scored 79 runs on 114 balls, including eight fours and a six.

Babar put up a brave fight with a 114-ball 79, but Pakistan was all out for 182 in 43 overs despite his efforts.

Tim Southee grabbed 2 for 33 while Sodhi recorded 2-38 for New Zealand.

Earlier, when the tourists won the toss and chose to bat first, left-arm spinner Nawaz took four wickets to restrict New Zealand.

The series now levelled at 1-1, with the final match on Friday at the same venue in Karachi will decide the winner of the series.
