India and England are all set to lock horns in the one-off Test at Edgbaston starting on July 1.
The test is a part of 5-match series played between India and England last year, which India lead by 2-1. The fifth and final test was not played last year due to increase in COVID-19 in the Indian camp and the match was postponed.
Now the fifth test will take place at the Edgbaston. However, there are a lot of changes in both sides since they last met. Previous year, Virat was captain of team India. While Joe Root was the skipper of England.
This time when both team face each other, Rohit Sharma will lead the Indian side. While Ben Stokes will lead England.
Same happened with coaches, Ravi Shastri was India’s coach then. And Chris Silverwood was handling the England side as head coach.
Now the whole scenario is changed. Rahul Dravid is the team India coach. While Brendon McCullum is the new head coach of team England in tests.
However, Rohit will play or not depends on his condition as couple of days back he was tested positive for COVID-19 and his availability for the final test is still in doubts.
Who will open in Rohit Sharma’s absence in the 5th test between India and England?
In Rohit Sharma’s unavailability, Mayank Agarwal might open with Shubman Gill. KL Rahul, the other designated opener was already out of the series with groin injury.
Rahul had a fantastic time in England last year as the batter had recorded 315 runs in 4 games and was the third highest run-getter in the 5-match series, and the Indian team will surely miss his presence in the playing XI.
