BAN Women vs SA Women Match Highlights:
Bangladesh Women have won the toss and they have elected to field first owing to the conditions. They were expected to fire up by taking advantage – But things went another way for them.
South Africa Women openers Wolvaardt and Tazmin Brits have started the proceedings for the side and unfortunately, Brits had to depart at the early stage of the game by scoring just 8 runs.
But Wolvaardt has placed steadily and guided the batting innings for the team and played an excellent knock of 41 in 52 balls. Other batters like Sune Luus, Lara Goodall, Mignon du Preez couldn’t contribute much with the bat.
But in the end, Kapp and Tryon had a good partnership and with their help, South African Women have posted a total of 207-10 in 49.5 overs. Bangladesh Women Bowlers have done a fantastic job and especially Fariha Trisna has picked 3 crucial wickets and had a decent economy rate of 3.5
Bangladesh Women Batters had a big task in front of them – It was a lot resting on the opening pair of Sharmin Akhter and Shamima Sultana. They really had a good partnership and gave a good positive start to the Bangladesh innings.
But after their dismissal, no one has taken the momentum forward and their middle has failed very badly and as a result, they have lost the game by 32 runs. South Africa’s bowlers were looking sharp on the field and they were successful in bowling out all the star batters.
Ayabonga Khaka was the star in the South African bowling set up where she has picked up 4 wickets. And for her amazing performance, she has been handed over the player of the match award.
During the post-match presentation, Khaka said – “It means a lot (on getting 100 ODI wickets), I don’t bowl for records. I take it game by game. You can see the grin on my face, I had the confidence to do the job for my team. I was concentrating only on maintaining a line and length. You just need to follow your heart (on her advice to youngsters). They (Bangladesh) played well, bowled well as a unit, and put us under pressure, but we need to do things better in the next game.”
