IND vs NZ Match Updates
The second and final warm-up match of India against New Zealand was called off due to severe rain without a ball being bowled at The Gabba in Brisbane on Wednesday. As the skies opened up during Pakistan’s chase of 155 against Afghanistan at the same location in the first practice match of the day, neither the Indian nor New Zealand teams were able to hit the ground. Let us look into IND vs NZ Match Updates in detail.
India had earlier trounced Australia, the hosts, by six runs in their opening warm-up game on Monday.
Against Australia, India posted 186 for 7, which they successfully defended despite captain Aaron Finch‘s resurgence with a 54-ball 76. They did this on the strength of half-centuries from KL Rahul (57) and Suryakumar Yadav (50).
Mohammad Shami (3/4), who was brought into the team to fill in for an injured Jasprit Bumrah, shone for India with the ball in the last over, which resulted in four dismissals, including three for the right-arm pacer.
The top-ranked side in the ICC T20 Rankings, Team India, is ready to begin their major event campaign as favourites. However, a number of issues are causing the team’s headaches. Death bowling chaos is one among them. The absence of key players due to injury is the other factor.
Once again, the absence of Jasprit Bumrah and the injury to Deepak Chahar caused a major shock in India’s bowling lineup.
Team India in T20 World Cup 2022
In Jasprit Bumrah‘s absence, Bhuvneshwar Kumar is now India’s bowling leader. The other pacers in the team are Arshdeep Singh, Harshal Patel, and Mohammad Shami.
Prior to it, India’s top all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja missed numerous crucial games during the Asia Cup 2022, which resulted in India failed to reach the finals. He was then unavailable for selection from the T20 World Cup owing to injury.
The batting department, however, looking strong for India. Rohit Sharma also played some quick knocks in last couple of games. And with KL Rahul also showed some signs of returning in form and the run-machine Virat Kohli also back in form, team India is not worrying about their batting strength.
Suryakumar Yadav, who presently holds the top spot among Indian batters in the ICC T20 batters ranking. Would likely bat at position four, further bolstering the Indian batting order. Death overs while batting are also not an issue for India. Hardik Pandya will be in the lineup as a true all-rounder. While Dinesh Karthik will be there as well for the crucial overs.
India will play their opening T20 World Cup match against arch rivals Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday.
