Now we know why. According to a report in the Times of India, Jadeja appeared to have suffered an injury while participating in an adventure activity at the sea in Dubai, and BCCI is not at all happy about it.
“We are not happy with Jadeja’s injury. He should have kept the World Cup in mind while doing adventurous activities. But he was not responsible and did not think that the World Cup is on the way. We are not happy with this action of Jadeja,” a source told ANI.
Jadeja missed Asia Cup 2022 due to a right knee injury after participating in the first two games against Pakistan and Hong Kong.
Jadeja underwent knee surgery on Tuesday, and the all-rounder will shortly begin his recovery. On Tuesday, Jadeja posted on Instagram to declare his surgery was successful.
“The surgery was successful. There are many people to thank for their support and involvement – BCCI, my teammates, support staff, physios, doctors and the fans. I will start my rehab soon and try to get back to soon as I can. Thank you to everyone for your kind wishes,” said Jadeja in a post.
Before getting hurt, Jadeja was having a strong Asia Cup 2022. He scored a match-winning 35 in the opening game against Pakistan and finished with figures of 0/11 in two overs. He did not bat in the following game against Hong Kong, although he eventually took 1/15 with the ball and did excellent fielding as usual.
