World Cup 2023 Semi-Final New Rules: The 50-over showpiece tournament has reached its conclusion, with four teams poised to contest in the knockout stages beginning Wednesday, November 15.
The semi-finals of the ICC World Cup 2023 will be held at two historic locations. The first match was place at Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium, and the second in Kolkata’s Eden Gardens.
With both of the last four matches taking place toward the conclusion of India’s retreating monsoon season, there is a chance that weather will play spoilsport, resulting in shortened games or perhaps a full wash out.
What is the playing hours in the ICC World Cup 2023 match?
On the scheduled day, the semi-final match will start at 2:00 PM and end at 5:30 PM. The second inning will start at 6 PM and end at 9:30 PM after a 30-minute break.

The extension window allows for a whole match to be completed if possible, which means that if there were 2 hours (120 minutes) lost due to weather, the match will be played without overs lost by using that window. If the delay or interruption lasts more than 120 minutes, the overs will be lowered using the Duckworth-Lewis-Stren method.
Every five minutes beyond the 120-minute mark, an over is lost. For example, if the match ends at 6 p.m. and no play is possible until 8 p.m., no overs will be lost; however, if the interruption surpasses that period, we will lose an over for every 5 minutes lost until we reach 20 overs.
What happens if the said match has not completed on the scheduled day? Is there any reserve day?
Both semi-finals have a reserve day, which means the match can be completed the next day if no result is available on the planned day of play, despite the usage of the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) Method to determine target and reduce overs.
This only applies if both teams have played at least 20 overs while utilizing the 120-minute extended session, or if it is unable to play a minimum of 20 overs per side game (Note: The chasing team must have faced at least 20 overs to decide a result).
The match will restart on the reserve day at the exact moment of the stoppage if none of the following can be accomplished. The match will be rescheduled if it rains on the planned day without a ball being bowled.
What happens if the reserve day also is interrupted by weather?
However, if the game is deemed safe for all parties involved, it is quite likely that it will be completed on the appointed day.
And, if no result or match is achievable on the scheduled day and the reserve day of the match, despite using the extra time and DLS predicted target, the match will be called off, with the side finishing higher on the points table advancing to the final.
The following are the terms set forth by the ICC for the usage of reserve days in the World Cup 2023 knockout stages, along with what happens in the event that the match is not finished on the designated day: A reserve day will be allocated for the Semi-Finals and Final, on which a match that is left unfinished can be picked up on the scheduled day.
Every effort will be made to finish the match on the scheduled day, with any necessary overs reductions, even if a reserve day is allocated. If the minimum number of overs (20 overs each) needed to make up a match cannot be bowled on the scheduled day, the match can only be finished on the reserve day.
If the contest starts on the scheduled day and overs are reduced due to a halt, but no further play is permitted, the match will resume on the reserve day at the point where the last ball was played. If no play is possible on the scheduled match day despite using the 120-minute extension period, the full game will be played on the reserve day as a fifty-over match.
