Pakistan vs South Africa – Match 26 First Innings Update:
PAK vs SA first Innings update: In a much-awaited clash between South Africa and Pakistan, Pakistan fought back hard to post a decent total of 270/10 in 50 overs. Pakistan who need to win all their remaining games, came into this match with positive intent. Now South Africa needs 271 runs in 50 overs to win the game.
Earlier after winning the toss Babar Azam opted to bat first keeping the Chennai condition in mind. Abdullah Shafique and Imam-ul-Haq as usual came out to open the innings for Pakistan. But things did not fall in place for Pakistan as they lost both their openers inside the first seven overs.
Pakistan Losing Wickets at Regular Intervals
Even though Babar Azam and Saud Shakeel scored fifties it was not enough for Pakistan to post a huge total in front of Inform South African team. Babar Azam’s fifty was short-lived as he was dismissed for 50. While Saud also scored fifty but was stopped by Shamsi he scored 52 runs from 52 balls.
Shadab Khan also played a small cameo of 43 runs in 36 balls. Except for these three players, no other players contributed significantly. Shadab Khan and Saud Shakeel were the only two batters with the highest partnership (86 runs). This decent batting effort led to Pakistan scoring 270 inside 47 overs.
South Africa’s Bowling Master-class
Marco Jansen gave the perfect start for Proteas as he picked out both the Pakistan openers and put South Africa in a commanding position. Then it was a matter of time before wickets kept falling. Lungi Ngidi picked up a wicket, while Gerald Coetzee picked two crucial wickets.
But the standout bowler was Tabraiz Shamsi who picked up four wickets in his spell which ultimately punctured the Pakistan batting lineup.
South Africa on the Chase
With 271 needed in 50 overs, the proteas will come out to bat in a calm and composed manner. Even though South African batsmen are in good form they will have to understand the condition and play according to it to win the game.
On the other hand, Pakistan will try their best to stop South Africa from chasing the target as their Semi-final spot is at risk if they lose this game.
