Indian Cricket Team Skipper Rohit Sharma has recently won the prestigious Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award. It’s the highest distinction in the country for a sportsman. Rohit has finally responded to the same comment that he feels lucky to be on the same list with Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni.
The cricketer from Mumbai had a perfect run at the World Cup in England. He was the first cricketer in history to score five centuries in a single version. Rohit Sharma has been a force to be reckoned with since his elevation to the top ranking in 2013. He and Virat Kohli have been the mainstays of India ‘s struggle over the last decade.
Honoured On Receiving Khel Ratna – Rohit Sharma:
Rohit joins only three other Indian cricketers – Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli – in the list of winners of the Khel Ratna Trophy. The Mumbaikar said he was proud to join the three Indian greats on the elite list.
“It feels amazing to have the highest sporting distinction. I am so honoured and honoured to receive this award and I would like to thank the Sports Minister and the BCCI for their appreciation and endorsement of my name. I promise to keep working hard and to keep bringing laurels to my country, “Rohit said in a video shared by BCCI.
“It’s a wonderful community to be part of — all these three names listed (Sachin Tendulkar, MS Dhoni and Virat Kohli) who have made wonders to our country and brought so much joy to the nation. And it’s a real honour to join this list. I’m really pleased about it, “he said.
In the meantime, Rohit Sharma will be back in action as he leads the Mumbai Indians in the IPL. The 13th edition of the cash-rich league will begin on 19 September in the UAE. Mumbai, who will defend the title, has already landed in Abu Dhabi and will soon start training.
