New Zealand women’s team crushed West Indies women’s team by 5 wickets
Maddy Green’s unbeaten run
WI-W vs NZ-W 5th T20I:The visitors won the series 4-1 thanks to Maddy Green’s unbeaten 32 as New Zealand defeated West Indies in North Sound on the final ball. After West Indies were held to 101 for 8 by Fran Jonas, Eden Carson, and Suzie Bates.
New Zealand successfully chased down the modest goal of 102 with five wickets remaining. Hayley Matthews, West Indies captain, scored 56 but it was fruitless.
Captain’s Knock
Captain Hayley Matthews, who scored 56, was the highest scorer for the West Indies in their innings. Amazingly, however, no other batter was able to reach double figures; their best score was an 8 instead.
Rashada Williams was a spectator during the 42-run second-wicket stand, with Matthews hitting most of the runs. However, West Indies fell apart when Eden Carson shattered that hat defense.
West Indies had a chance to pull off an improbable victory after Brooke Haliday and Sophie Devine did the same. However, the 37-run stand between Amelia Kerr and Maddy Green helped the guests stay on course.
Last Over Chase
The visitors completed the task even though there was a little apprehension at the end. The chase entered the last over with one run needed off the final ball, but even though there was a little apprehension at the end, the visitors completed the task. After winning the ODI series as well, New Zealand finished off the T20I series by winning it 4-1.
While chasing, New Zealand lost Bates and Brooke Halliday in the eighth over, but Sophie Devine and Amelia Kerr contributed with 23 and 25 respectively before Green led the team home with an undefeated 29-ball performance. Sheneta Grimmond, Gajnabi, and Fletcher each took a wicket for the West Indies.
West Indies were unable to achieve their intended result as wickets began to fall in large piles. Bates stumbled to 13 off 20 at one end before being ejected while the run rate was just about four. Although Bates started the run chase poorly with the bat, he eventually concluded with a three-wicket haul.
The end result
The visitors ended their trip with a five-wicket victory in the final T20I on Thursday after West Indies’ batting collapse caused them to lose another match at home to New Zealand on Thursday.
