RCB Vs CSK Match Highlights:
The Chennai Super Kings, on Wednesday, had moved down the order of the IPL points after it had lost the match against Royal Challengers Bangalore. Unable to withstand RCB’s overall team performance, the CSK had to make a vain attempt to chase down the 173-run mark despite winning the toss and choosing to bowl first. Here in this article, we have talked about RCB vs CSK Match Highlights.
The match between the Chennai and Bangalore franchises at Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium, Pune, went in favor of the RCB with Dhoni’s CSK being defeated by 13 runs.
Both the teams made a good start with RCB began with a steady approach in scoring the runs and the bowlers of the yellow army plucking the wickets at regular intervals in the first innings. The turnaround moment for RCB could be Mahipal Lomror’s innings where he scored 42 runs off 27 balls.
The second innings witnessed some big scores being added by the CSK batsmen. Despite achieving the half-century mark by Devan Conway 56 (37) and Moeen Ali’s all-rounder performance, the yellow army had to taste the defeat.
From RCB’s end, Harshal Patel made a match-winning contribution where he plucked three important wickets, with one being the CSK’s skipper MS Dhoni. In this match, his best registered at 3 for 35 with Glenn Maxwell also adding some good numbers to his bowling scorecard with a best of 2/22.
Speaking during the post-match presentation, Dhoni said I think we did well to restrict them to 170-odd runs.
“I felt in the second half, I felt it would get better. What really let us down was the batsmanship. When you are chasing, you know what is required. At times, you have to curb your instinct and bat according to your situation. If the batsmanship was better, we would have had lesser to chase in the last seven overs. The wicket got better and we kept losing wickets at regular intervals.”
Emphasizing CSK’s position in the IPL points table, he said, it is not about how many games we have lost this season that led to this loss. “It is easy to get distracted by the number of points you have. It is important to focus on the process. If you take care of that, the points table will take care of itself,” he said.
The winning from RCB, Faf said I think the players (we’re) heading in the right direction. “The bowling department has been doing well all tournament and it was just about backing it up with some good runs. I was thinking 165 will be par on this pitch. We felt the Powerplay will be the easiest time to score due to the nature of the pitch. I think the Powerplay was really good and the energy in the field was excellent with the guys driving around in the field.”
Underlining areas that are to be improved, he said the batting department needs some improvement. “We’d like one of our top four to bat through and get that 70-plus score since we’ve got that power coming in later. It’s just that consistency around the batting unit and keeps making sure we play a positive brand of cricket,” he said.
