The current World Champions in test cricket New Zealand have dropped to the seventh position in the WTC points table after a heartbreaking series defeat against England.

New Zealand’s chances of finishing in the top two have decreased as they now have an extremely little possibility of making the WTC finals next year.

The kiwis who are currently in England for a 3-match test series, lost the first two tests to witness a drop in the rankings.

They have lost both the test matches by 5 wickets and it is an alarming bell for the current World Champions in test cricket. Earlier, they lost 2nd warm-up game also against County XI, while the first one ended in a draw.

Here we can have the WTC points table:

Australia continues to lead the pack with 75 win percentage points and is yet to lose a game in the 2021-23 World Test Championship cycle. While South Africa is just behind Australia at no.2.

As per the current scenario, Australia and South Africa are the hot favorites to qualify for the finals of WTC 2023. However, there are plenty of series in between and this scenario will get change.

India, who finished second at the 2021 World Championship, is third in the standings with 58.33 win percentage points.

Pakistan and Sri Lanka are in 5th and 6th place, respectively.

The next biggest clashes in the world in test cricket include the last between England and New Zealand from June 23, Australia versus Sri Lanka 2-test series, starting June 29. While India will next take on England in the one-off test match starting on July 1 in Edgbaston.
