BCCI Cricket board named the 15-man squad for the 2022 T20 World Cup, which will be held in Australia in October and November. The Indian team is filled with superstars who can be game changers at any given point in time.
Numbers can be deceptive and not always tell the whole story, feels Indian vice-captain KL Rahul, whose endeavor ahead of the T20 World Cup is to improve his strike rate in the powerplay overs. KL Rahul in a recent interview stated that “I’m working towards my Strike Rate. No one is perfect, everyone is working towards something”.
KL Rahul even broke the silence regarding the selection of Rishabh Pant and Dinesh Karthik, he stated “It really depends on what kind of combination we want to go with. It will always depend on firstly the surface that we’re going to play on. Secondly, the teams that we’re playing against. And yeah, these decisions are not easy.”
He further went on “Obviously, both of them are really high-quality players and they have been playing really well. Both of them play different roles for me. So, for us as a team, and for the captain and coach, obviously at the leadership group, is to see what role we need on that particular day.”
KL Rahul has been struggling to score runs in recent games and, surely, KL Rahul will be looking to come back after a disappointing game in the past. Even the skipper Rohit Sharma in a news conference on Sunday, supported KL Rahul as his opening partner while acknowledging that the team management may still ask Kohli to open in a few games.
Rohit and Rahul can therefore anchor the batting from the start and construct the innings for India to have an immediate effect beginning with the bilateral series against Australia.
India will face off against Australia tonight and we will be able to see how the two teams look before the T20 World Cup, catch all the live action on Starsports Network and Disney Hotstar Plus at 7:30 Pm.
