England’s ex-skipper Joe Root is all set to create and break Sachin Tendulkar’s record and he walks in to bat in the one-off test against India starting on July 1.
The man in form Joe Root is chasing the record of Indian legend Sachin Tendulkar of scoring the most runs in the India versus England series.
The legendary Indian batter Sachin Tendulkar has scored the most runs 2535 in the India versus England series. While another legend of India has scored 2483 against the English side. To surpass Sunil Gavaskar’s mark, Root requires to score 131 runs. While he needs 183 runs to surpass Sachin Tendulkar’s record for most runs.
England, who are currently playing a 3-match test series against New Zealand will start their last match of the series campaign against West Indies on Thursday.
The ‘new era’ already won the series by beating the visitors in the first two tests both by five wickets, first at the Lord’s and second at Trent Bridge.

In the ongoing series, Root like always played the game of cricket with his remarkable shot selection technique and till now has scored the highest runs amongst England batters.

He has recorded 305 runs in 4 innings at an average of 101.67, including 2 centuries.
Joe Root has scored 8 centuries and 10 half-centuries against India, the highest for any England batter, and is currently in the fourth position in the list of most runs in the India versus England series.
Sachin Tendulkar (2535) is first on the list, Sunil Gavaskar (2483) on the second, while the former England skipper Alastair Cook is third with 2432 runs.
The 31-year-old now needs 79 more runs to surpass the former England captain and has the desired firepower to do so.
