IPL 2022 Orange Cap: Abhishek Sharma of Sunrisers Hyderabad moved into the top three after his early exploits against Chennai Super Kings on Sunday.
Sharma played a crucial inning of 39 runs off 24 balls against CSK and edged past Hardik Pandya to claim 3rd spot in the orange cap race. Jos Buttler, meanwhile, remains strong at the top of the table with 566 runs to his name, while KL Rahul was in second place with 461 runs.
After giving his team a strong start, the young gun Abhishek got out on 39, and with their middle order collapsed under the pressure of achieving a huge target, SRH faced their second consecutive defeat.
The opening batter has played all nine games for SRH and scored 324 runs at a strike rate of 36.00. His best performance so far remained his 75 runs knock against Chennai Super Kings in the 17th match of IPL 2022 when his impactful knock helped his team beat CSK by 8 wickets.
While T Natarajan will remain the best bowler for SRH for the time being, having surpassed his 2020 edition tally of 16 wickets. The left-arm pacer conceded 42 runs in his spell against CSK, but he took both wickets that fell in the first innings.
CSK registered their third win of the season to remain in contention for the playoffs. While Sunrisers Hyderabad with 5 wins and 4 losses in 9 matches are currently fourth on the points table.
