India Vs Bangladesh First ODI
According to reports, Rishabh Pant won’t play in the ODI series against Bangladesh. The 25-year-old is thought to have been bothered at the time.
The BCCI stated on Sunday that Indian wicket-keeper Rishabh Pant has been removed from the ODI lineup after suffering an injury prior to the first ODI against Bangladesh in Dhaka. The team management made this decision after speaking with the BCCI Medical Team.
Although Rishabh Pant’s absence remained unexplained, it’s assumed that the 25-year-old had a niggle at the time. Axar Patel, a left-arm spin all-rounder, was also unavailable for selection along with Rishabh Pant.
Pant will nevertheless mostly join the group before the start of the Test series, it has been announced. No effort has been made to find a wicketkeeper to replace him. In Pant’s absence, KL Rahul will keep the wickets in the opening ODI.
BCCI Statement
“In consultation with the BCCI Medical Team, Rishabh Pant has been released from the ODI squad. He will join the team ahead of the Test series. No replacement has been sought. Axar Patel was not available for selection for the first ODI.”
Who will keep the Wickets in the first ODI
Since Pant is no longer playing, KL Rahul will be keeping wicket for India in the ODI in Dhaka and will bat in the middle order with the great opening duo of Shikhar Dhawan and captain Rohit Sharma.
When Rohit said that the squad is struggling with a number of injuries and that fast bowler Mohammed Shami had already been ruled out owing to a shoulder issue, he further suggested that Pant may have sustained an injury.

Pant’s Future in Doubt
Following a spate of poor performances, there has been much discussion over Pant’s future in the Indian team. Pant has failed to notch a single half-century.
His highest score came against the West Indies in Lauderhill at 44 after scoring the game-winning century for India against England in July at the Trent Bridge Stadium in Nottingham.
In recent T20Is, he has struggled, posting scores of 14, 17, 20*, 27, 3, 6, and 11 in the format. Pant’s slump persisted in the just concluded ODI and T20I series as he scored 42 runs in four innings.
