The third day of the commonwealth game‘s 2022 cricket completion saw both low-scoring games, with Australia securing a comfortable victory in the match no.6.

Australia showed pure dominance on Sunday as after bowling out the Barbados side for 64, they achieved the target in just 8.1 overs after losing a single wicket.

Earlier, in match no.5, India defeated Pakistan by 8 wickets to keep their medal hopes alive.

Australia as per their strategy chose to bowl and executed their plan very well by restricting the Barbados side to just 64 runs.

Barbados were at 49 for 3 at one stage but they suddenly collapsed and lost their 7 batter in the span of 15. Apart from skipper Hayley Matthews (18) no other batter even touched the double digit mark.

It was a game to remember for the right arm spin bowler Alana King as she went on to take 4 wickets by giving just 8 runs in her 4 overs spell. Apart from her, Tahlia McGrath grabbed 3, Ashleigh Gardner bagged 2, while Darcie Brown took a single wicket.

In reply, Australia too lost their opener early as Beth Mooney walked after scoring just 2 runs. However, wicketkeeper batter Alyssa Healy (23* off 24) and the skipper Meg Lanning (36* off 21) put up a good show and remained till end to guide Australia to a comfortable victory by nine wickets. They did 63-run partnership for second wicket in just 41 balls.

After day 3 of commonwealth games 2022 cricket completion, the standings of group A changed as India after defeating Pakistan moved to 2nd from 3rd, with Barbados on third, Pakistan on fourth, while Australia maintain their top spot.

The next games in cricket completion will be of group b teams. England Women will take on South Africa Women in match no.7, while Sri Lanka Women and New Zealand Women will lock horns in 8th game, both the games will be played on August 2.
