BCCI on Sunday unveiled the all new team India Jersey for both the men’s and women’s cricket teams. The unveiling comes two days before India’s T20I series against Australia and one month before the 2022 T20 World Cup in Australia.
“To every cricket fan out there, this one’s for you. Presenting the all-new T20 Jersey – One Blue Jersey,” the BCCI tweeted. The jersey comprises a light blue t-shirt with sleeves of a darker shade of blue, paired with light blue trousers.
Rohit Sharma and Harmanpreet Kaur, the male and female team captains, respectively, were shown on the poster for the new shirt. They are surrounded by Renuka Singh, Hardik Pandya, Suryakumar Yadav, and Shafali Verma.
The BCCI had previously hinted at the change to the Indian jersey on their official Twitter profile last week.
This is the second time in a year that Team India will witness a change in the jersey. Prior to the T20 World Cup in the United Arab Emirates, the BCCI unveiled a “Billion Cheers Jersey” in October last year.
The Indian men’s side is preparing for a three-match T20I series against Australia at home. After that, they will host South Africa for an equal number of T20Is.
While they have to play ODI series against South Africa after the T20Is.
Their next task in the shortest format will be the 2022 T20 World Cup, which starts in October in Australia.
India unexpectedly left the Asia Cup early after losing to Pakistan and Sri Lanka in the Super 4 stage early this month. And now the men in blue will look to overcome the hurdles when they play the defending global champions Australia and the tough opponent South Africa.
Both the series right before the T20 World Cup will allow the team to set the perfect team combination and the players want to improve their form and build some momentum for the marquee event next month.
The women’s team is currently in England where they are competing in an ODI series against the hosts. They dominantly won the first one-day international of the three-match series on Sunday to take a 1-0 lead.
