Indian Women Cricket Team: To go to the Commonwealth Games final on Saturday, the Indian women’s Cricket team overcame the English hosts by a score of 4-runs. Sneh Rana, an all-rounder, displayed steely nerves by swallowing runs in the closing overs as the Indian women’s cricket team edged out the host England team by four runs on Saturday to get to the Commonwealth Games 2022 final.

At 132 for three, England was sailing along while needing 165 to win. Only 33 runs needed to be scored off of 24 balls for the host, but off-spinner Rana (4-0-28-2) bowled superbly. In the 18th and final overs, she only gave up three runs and nine runs, respectively.

Choosing to bat, India amassed a respectable 164 for 5 in the semifinal thanks to Smriti Mandhana’s scorching 61 and Jemimah Rodrigues’ valuable 44 not out. The greatest runs for the hosts were scored by Natalie Sciver (41) and Danielle Wyatt (35) in the English reply, which saw them reach 160 for 6 in the allotted 20 overs.

Even Sophie Ecclestone’s last-ball six couldn’t rescue the day for the hosts as Harmanpreet Kaur’s team avenged India’s loss in the 2017 ODI World Cup final. England finished at 160 for six. If Smriti Mandhana’s 32-ball 61 was a visual feast, Deepti Sharma (4-0-18-1) and Pooja Vastrakar (3-0-20-0), India’s perennial “MVP,” Rana, didn’t falter in line or length under pressure.

When Harmanpreet introduced Shafali Verma, whose friendly “donkey drops” in the 16th over brought the home team 15 runs, the game appeared to have clearly tipped in favor of England.

In contrast, Deepti and Rana combined to surrender only six runs in the 17th and 18th overs. Pooja let up 13 runs in the nineteenth over.

A quick breakdown of the results is as follows: England 160 for 6 in 20 overs (Natalie Sciver 41; Sneh Rana 2/28); India 164 for 5 in 20 overs (Smriti Mandhana 61; Freya Kemp 2/22).
