On what basis the teams have been seeded?
These ten teams have been seeded based on the number of IPL trophies they have won. The seeding is then based on the number of final appearances the team has made. Mumbai Indians have got the highest seeding as they have won 5 IPL trophies. Chennai Super Kings with 4 titles are seeded second.
Which teams are part of which group?
The two groups (A & B) have odd and even seeded teams respectively. Kolkata Knight Riders, Rajasthan Royals, Delhi Capitals, and Lucknow Super Giants form Group A along with MI. CSK lead the pack in Group B followed by Sunrisers Hyderabad, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Punjab Kings, and Gujarat Titans.
Why is there so much buzz surrounding IPL 2022 Group A?
Every IPL team post the auctions look like a complete team on paper. It is the on-field action though that determines the winner. Teams in Group A have assembled solid outfits. Every team has its own set of strengths that separates it from others in the group. There are past champions as well as solid title contenders in this group that makes it so exciting.
Emergence and re-emergence:
A new team like Lucknow Super Giants have picked a quality side in the auctions. They picked surprising yet effective players through the draft. Lucknow bolstered their squad with the acquisition of quality all-rounders in the auction. They are one of the teams to beat this season. Similarly, Rajasthan Royals who have had forgettable couple of seasons have build a strong team. They seem to have covered almost all bases in the auctions. RR have a realistic chance of making it to the next level this season.
The aura of the past champions:
MI and KKR have won 7 IPL titles in between them. These teams know the art of winning the big games. They will be tough to beat in crunch matches as KKR provided ample evidence of this fact last season. MI are yet to lose a IPL final post 2010. These two teams will fancy their chances of surging ahead to the next round this season.
The inevitability of Delhi:
Delhi Capitals arguably had the best auction among all teams. They retained their core group along with making some valuable acquisitions. Delhi have too strong a squad this year to not win the trophy. They are outright favorites for many cricketing experts.
Is this why Group A, the Group of Death?
