MS Dhoni, an Indian wicketkeeper, informed his former teammates about his decision to hang his boots out of cricket. It has been nine and a half months since the 38-year-old was last seen on the cricket field in the semi-final against New Zealand in the 2019 World Cup. The Jharkhand-born will be turning 39 this July, and he’s finishing his career.
There’s been talk of his retirement since his break. A lot of experts have an opinion on the importance of Dhoni in the Indian team and what he should do in the future. He also served in the Indian Army in the Kashmir Valley during this phase. He is set to return to the IPL for CSK, but the tournament is indefinitely postponed.
MS Dhoni doesn’t want to block youngsters’ chances
Dhoni will decide on his career after next year’s T20 tournament if reports are to be believed. “Next year, he will take a call after the IPL next year to find out how things are in the T20 League,” a senior cricketer said in an interview.
“Now, there is no further motivation to play. He thinks that he doesn’t want to block the chances of the youngsters.” said another player.
“Where’s the problem of playing IPL to get into the Indian team when there’s nothing to prove,” said another member of the Indian cricket team who once played with Dhoni.
It’s been learned recently that Dhoni doesn’t want to impede the path of the youngster. Dhoni has also reportedly lifted praises on Rishabh Pant, stating the southpaw has immense talent.
“Dhoni can still demand a farewell game, but he’s not ready to interrupt the Indian cricket team’s combination. He believes Rishabh Pant can do an outstanding job both behind the stumps as well as with the bat, “added a source close to the veteran.
Earlier, there were rumors that Dhoni was looking forward to the next edition of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 Trophy for his home state, Jharkhand as a preparation for the IPL.
