New Zealand skipper Kane Williamson will miss the T20I series against India and he will be making his comeback in the following Test Series which is all set to start from 25th November. And the New Zealand Cricket Board Announced Tim Southee as the new captain for the T20I series.
Team India is all set to take on New Zealand in a 3 match T20I series from 17th November and the big question that comes in is – “Can New Zealand Win in the absence of Kane Williamson? “
New Zealand Cricket Board has officially given a statement saying – “BLACKCAPS captain Kane Williamson will miss this week’s three-game T20 series against India as he prioritizes preparing for the Test series starting on November 25 in Kanpur,”
And also added – “With the opening game of the T20 series on Wednesday evening, followed by games on Friday and Sunday night – the decision was made for Williamson to join the Test specialist group already training in Jaipur as they focus on red-ball preparation,”

NZC has also said – “Tim Southee will captain the T20 side for the opening game on Wednesday, while Kyle Jamieson, Daryl Mitchell, Glenn Phillips, and Mitchell Santner are also available for both series. Lockie Ferguson’s recovery from a right calf-strain continues to progress well and he is expected to be available for the T20 series.”
The 1st T20I match is scheduled to play on November 17, Wednesday at the Sawai Mansingh Stadium in Jaipur and the 2nd T20I will be played on Friday at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi while Eden Gardens in Kolkata will host the 3rd and final T20I on Sunday. After the completion of the T20I series, both teams will play a 2-match Test Series.
