Following the conclusion of the T20 World Cup 2021, a new era has started with Rohit Sharma taking over as India’s T20I captain role replacing Virat Kohli. In addition, Rahul Dravid has taken over as head coach position, replacing Ravi Shastri. Rohit Sharma has made his debut in the year 2007 and currently, the right-handed batsmen have a lot of experience under his belt, and also he has a tremendous batting history.
Indian leg spinner Yuzvendra Chahal is known to have a good bond with the experienced opener. The pair have played a lot of cricket together, and no one can question their friendship. Interestingly, Rohit and Chahal have been friends since 2010, when the spinner shared the Mumbai Indians (MI) dressing room with Rohit.
Rohit and Ritika always treated me like a younger brother: Chahal
Their friendship stayed strong even after Chahal went to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) in 2014. In relation to this, the spinner stated that Rohit is much like a family to him. “I have always had a special bond with Rohit. We are like family. Be it him or Ritika Bhabhi (Rohit’s wife), they have always treated me like a younger brother. We always went out together for dinner,” Chahal said in an interaction.
In the 2019 World Cup, Chahal remembered how he, Rohit, and teammate spinner Kuldeep Yadav planned to remove Pakistan’s batting star, Babar Azam. “Whenever we are on the field, I always share my views with him like the time we got Kuldeep to bowl from a certain end to Babar Azam in the 2019 World Cup and got him out,” recalled the 31-year-old.
“Our relationship is beyond our cricket. That helps on the field too when you trust someone so much. It’s always good to know that if I share something with him, there will be a positive response and vibe,” he added.
