On Sunday, Robin Uthappa admitted that playing with the Chennai Super Kings in the IPL has made him feel extremely safe. Given the presence of numerous recognized players, Uthappa had to stay on the bench for CSK. However, once he was in the lineup, he seized every opportunity. In Qualifier 1 on October 10, he used all of his expertise against the DC.

He helped his side to qualify for the final by scoring a 44-ball 63 with 7 fours and 2 sixes. With the exception of praising CSK, Uthappa also praised the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), with whom he played from 2014 to 2019 under Gautam Gambhir’s captaincy. Uthappa stated that his time with the Knights was enjoyable.

I always maintain that this has been one of the most secure franchises going around and everyone feels secure within the group and I think that only makes a player only give that much more to the franchise,” Uthappa was quoted as saying after the match.

After KKR, when Gauti was the captain, I really enjoyed myself there and felt really secure in that group but after that, this is the most secure, I’ve felt while playing cricket in a while,” he stated.

Uthappa subsequently grabbed the Orange Cap in 2014, when Gambhir and his team won the IPL for the 2nd time. Uthappa amassed 660 runs at an average of 44 in that tournament, including 5 half-centuries.

Happy that I was able to contribute. Today is my son’s birthday and this one’s for him. When I went out to bat, we knew we needed a good start, so I just tried to react to the ball and play according to the merit,” Uthappa added.

On the occasion of his son Neale Nolan Uthappa’s 4th birthday, he dedicated the knock versus DC to him.

CSK defeated DC by 4 wickets with 2 balls remaining in Qualifier 1. Ruturaj Gaikwad was named Player of the Match after making 70 runs off 50 balls, including 5 fours and 2 sixes.
