In the ongoing Test series between India and New Zealand(IND vs NZ), Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has achieved a huge feat – He has now become the highest wicket-taker in Test Cricket in 2021. He has achieved this record on Day-3 of the 1st Test at Kanpur.
Earlier Pakistan bowler Shaheen Afridi was at the top of the list and now the Indian off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin has taken over him and is currently at the top of the list
Ashwin was in good form especially in Test Cricket, he has picked those crucial wickets and helped his side on many occasions. He is always known for improvising his line and length according to the conditions and this nature of him has given him a huge success even at this age.
In Test Cricket, he has picked a total of 39 wickets in 2021. He has reached this achievement after picking the wicket of Young at 89 in Kanpur.
Ashwin has started his good form with the bat during the Australian series at Sydney – In that particular series, he was suffering from a severe back injury, despite that he played an outstanding role for his side.
And he came back into his own form during the home series against England where he won the Man of the Series award and he was the series highest wicket-taker with 32 wickets in 4 games.
R Ashwin is arguably one of Indias best bowlers during the World Test Championship finals in 2021, where he picked wickets in both innings.
Afridi will be in action during the Bangladesh tour where Pakistan is all scheduled to play a two-match test series. However, with India having three Test matches left in 2021 after this game, Ashwin is likely to finish as 2021’s highest wicket-taker.
After the 1st Test, Both India and New Zealand will head to Mumbai for the 2nd Test which will be starting on 3rd December. After completing this series, They are all set to travel to South Africa for a multi-format tour.
