All-rounder for Royal Challengers Bangalore(RCB), Glenn Maxwell hit out at media platforms trolls following RCB’s four-wicket failure to the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the IPL 2021 Eliminator at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium. The Challengers were eliminated from the competition as a result of the defeat, and the match also occurred to be Virat Kohli’s final as the team’s captain.
Maxwell, RCB’s top run-scorer this season, was unable to play on Monday, October 12. Despite scoring 15 at less than a run-a-ball, the experienced was bowled out by Player of the Match Sunil Narine, as he failed to get a wicket in the 3 overs he delivered.
Try being a decent person maybe instead of spreading abuse: Maxwell
The Australian was horrified by the trolls’ reactions, which he described as “absolutely disgusting.” Maxwell didn’t take this opportunity to thank the more polite supporters who stuck with the club through thick and thin.
“Some of the garbage that has been following on social media is absolutely disgusting! We are human beings who are giving our best each and every day. Try being a decent person maybe instead of spreading abuse,” Maxwell wrote.
“Thank you to the REAL fans that shared love and appreciation for the players giving their all! Unfortunately, there is some horrible people out there that make social media a horrible place to be. It is unacceptable!!! Please don’t be like them,” he added.
In addition to Maxwell, all-rounder Dan Christian faced criticism on social media networks. The trolls didn’t even overlook his partner. Following that, Christian advised the supporters not to turn to abuse.
“I didn’t have a great game tonight, but that’s a sport. However, please leave her out of it,” Christian was quoted as saying.
Christian struggled against the KKR in Sharjah. During KKR’s run hunt, the pacer put up 29 runs in 1.4 overs and suffered at the hands of Narine’s strength. Narine blasted him for 3 sixes, pushing KKR to the top of the table.
Maxwell & Christian will represent the Australian squad for the 2021 T20 World Cup, which begins on October 17th, after concluding their campaigns with RCB.
