Windies Cricket Offered To Host England:
CWI has offered to host England for a Test series of three matches as now Europe is becoming the epicenter of the COVID19 pandemic. Previously, Windies are scheduled to play three test series of the ICC World Test Championship from 4th June. But because of the Coronavirus outbreak in different parts of the world, the test series may be postponed or may be played in the Caribbean.
CEO of Cricket West Indies (CWI), Jonny Grave said that “ I have consulted with Tom Harrison several times in the last few days and guaranteed him that we will be supportive, helpful and flexible as possible”.
He also added that “ Regarding this, we have offered CWI to host the test series here in the Caribbean. The ECB (England and Wales Cricket Board) would hold all the broadcast as well as commercial rights.”
The Cricket West Indies (CWI) and England and Wales Cricket Board (ECB) have discussed this thing very frequently these days. There is a possibility of rescheduling the test series in the month of July, which is the accurate time to stage the series in the Caribbean. From this, it is also understood that Cricket West Indies (CWI) has offered to host the three-Test Series of England against Pakistan is scheduled to begin on 30th July.
Grave also said that “ it is not like we are trying to take benefit of the panic situation. It is all about the community of cricket working simultaneously in this complicated situation for everyone and one of the best things about the Caribbean is that we can play cricket all round the year. There has been a long & special relationship between the communities of cricket in the England and Caribbean. And we want to clear that we will try our best to help”.
