BCCI has announced the 20 member squad for the upcoming England tour and WTC finals on Friday. Skipper Virat Kohli and his men will play the final of the ICC Test Championship against New Zealand before the five-match series against England.
Former Indian cricketer Dodda Ganesh has questioned the Indian selection committee about the non-inclusion of Jaydev Undadkat in the 20-Men squad.
He took over Twitter and said – “What else does @JUnadkat need to do to get into the Indian test squad. It’s perplexing to see him being ignored again and again despite great performances year after year at the FC level,”
Jaydev has made his international debut during 2010-11 during the South Africa tour. He has played in only one test and bowled 26 overs and went wicketless. He has conceded 101 runs where India has suffered a disastrous innings defeat against the proteas.
He made his T20I debut against Zimbabwe in Harare and in total, he has played 10 games and picked only 14 wickets. Well, to be precise his last match was back in 2018.
His international career has not made any noise in the cricketing world. But coming to first-class cricket his performance was quite contrasting.
Unadkat has seven 5-wicket hauls with an impressive average of 13.23. His best came out during the 2019-20 Ranji Trophy, where he as broke the record for the most number of the wicket by a fast bowler in a single season, and guided Saurashtra to a title win.
Overall he has played 89 first-class games and picked 327 wickets which include 20 five-wicket hauls.
His international looks lean at the moment and he is nowhere close to the selection radar. If Unadkat wants to be in the blue jersey once again – he needs to show what he is capable of and need to consistent.
Consistency has been one of the biggest problems for him till date.
